Mekong River to Laung Prabang
The second day of the boat trip to Laung Prabang gave some insite into the daily life of the pleople that lived by the river.
One of the few villages along the way.
People waiting to be picked up by our boat.
When the ferry docked many people came to watch.
More passengers.
When the boy drinking water and the girl next to him came onto the boat it was quite a drama. The boy pulled the girl onto the boat. Although the girl seemed upset she was not resisting. Shortly after a lady, I assume the girl' s mother tried to pull the girl off of the boat. But the boy had a firm grip on the grils hand. Another lady joined in trying to pull the girl off of the boat. They even tried to undo the firm grip of the boy. The girl although very upset and crying did not assist or favor staying or being pulled off. The boat pulled away with the girl and the boy together. The girl was very upset and cried for a long time. The boy through the whole event had a determined smile on his face, After a while the boy and girl seemed like any other couple on an adventure enjoying the boat ride and sights along the way. It seemed like a case of a mother not wanting to let go of her child.
My seat kept moving back as more people and cargo were loaded on the boat.
People leaving the ferry.
The ferry arriving was a big event for the children in the village.
People and cargo that left the boat.
This lady attended to the small shop on the boat. She carried her young son in a pupuse the whole time she worked.
Even tough it must have been hard to carry her son for the whole day they had some quality time together.
The boat ahead or ours is going through some of the narrower channels.
The poles on the front are so other boats can see them when they are passing behind small islands in the river.
Arriving in Laung Probang. We docked between two other boats.
